Kitchen Food Staples

Here are the staples in my kitchen.  I have been doing my best to cook from scratch and get rid of most processed foods from my life because if you look at the ingredients a lot of the items are not really food.  There are some things I'm never going to get rid of, for example I'm not going to bake my own crackers but they are also not a staple in my house.

Note: As of 11/2010 no longer purchase frozen shrimp at Costco or any seafood where the origin is Asia. Buy only US seafood to try and avoid harmful chemicals.

Also need to check on Chicken Breasts: Call the customer service department of the chicken producer whose poultry you buy. Ask if they give arsenic to their birds or buy organic (cannot legally be given arsenic). Many poultry producers feed animals an organic form of arsenic to control intestinal parasites. One study showed: Arsenic in 55% of 155 samples purchased in MN and CA supermarkets. All 90 samples from fast food restaurants contained it.
