Frothing Milk: Why you don't need to purchase a $100 machine to do it

I was on the verge of purchasing this machine, the Nespresso  Aeroccino and Milk frother for $95 until I read an article on line on how to froth it in a glass jar:  shake it and microwave.  $95 SAVED.  If you froth a lot of milk or just want a fancy frother I heard on the Chew that this was Clinton's favorite.  You can find it on Amazon, otherwise see the recipe below that I now use.  I'm calling it the Red Neck Frother.

FROTHED MILK
1 microwaveable jar with screw top lid
-milk
Fill it no more than half way with or just as much milk as you would normally put in your coffee. Close lid tightly and shake as hard as you can for 30 seconds. Remove lid. Put in microwave for another 30 seconds. Pour milk into coffee, holding back foam with spoon. Top off with foam.

Note: I use a 1 qt. mason jar with a plastic screw top lid which you can find at any hardware store and some grocery stores. I used nonfat because it is what I always have on hand but I hear whole milk is suppose to froth better.
