SF's Grand Old Clubs
Some older tourist guide books from the mid 20th century refer to the area between Nob Hill, Union Square, and the Financial District as Club Land or Club Row. The heyday of these social clubs was from the late 19th century up to the Great Depression. This tour is offered on October 12, 16, 26 and 30, 2013.
This tour includes eleven buildings. It starts on Nob Hill at California and Mason Streets, across from the Pacific Union Club, the most exclusive men’s club in the west. It continues downhill by way of Sutter Street and Post Street and concludes in Union Square. Midway there will be a short visit to the elegant interior of the Metropolitan Club.
