Weekend Activities

Even though I have a ton of information on my blog including my What's Happening page, every weekend we enter into a conversation about what are we going to do.  I decided to put this list together to see if this will help us decide and narrow the focus of what I want to do this year.



Indoor Activities:
  • Bowling
  • Mini Golf
  • Movie
  • Food & Drink:  Restaurants I want to try, post continually updated



Towns close by CA and CA beaches:
  • Pleasanton: Bar hop, shop, eat; Saturday farmers market, Downtown Pleasanton: Local Pleasanton events.  In October check out the Ghost Walk done by the Museum on Main.  It is well worth the $18.
  • Walnut Creek: Bar hop, shop, eat
  • Danville:  Bar hop, shop, eat; Saturday farmers market
  • Livermore Valley Wineries: My favorites so far.  Here are a trip we took, trip 1.  For downtown info, click here.
  • Lafayette:  Paddle boats or walk around the Lafayette reservoir, have a drink & lunch in downtown.
  • Rockridge, Oakland: Bars, Restaurants, shops and everything you need for a nice meal (bakerys, butcher, floral shop,wine, bulk pasta, fresh cheese & goodies)
  • Berkeley:  Day 1
  • San Francisco:
  • AlamedaAlameda Antique Fair is the first Sunday of every month.
  • Salsalito:  Walk downtown area, shop, eat, cocktail
  • Castro Valley Wineries: My favorites so far.
  • Niles:  Saturday night silent films
Towns and a Longer Drive:
  • Lodi Wineries:  Wineries
  • Sonoma:  Winerys, shop, eat
  • Monterey:  Aquarium, shop, eat, cocktail, tour of cannery row through Monterey Waterfront tours
  • Carmel: Breakfast at Katy's or From Scratch, afternoon bar hopping or wine tasting and shopping, sunset on the beach
  • Half Moon Bay:  Walk the beach, shop, eat, cocktail; First stop:  Flying Fish for Cheesy Crab bread and a drink, next from there down Main St. and have a macaroon at one of the bakeries or another cocktail, drive over to the water and walk the trail along the ocean, stop by Sams Chowder House for mussels, grilled fish sandwich, a lobster roll or other fresh seafood and if staying later go to the Ritz for sunset and bagpipes on Fri or Sat.
  • Santa Cruz:  Boardwalk, eat, cocktail
  • Pismo:  Beach, walk downtown area, shop, eat, cocktail
  • SLO:  Walk downtown area, eat, cocktail
  • Cambria:  Walk downtown, eat, cocktail; Do the Hearst Castle
  • Napa Valley Wineries:  My favorites so far.  Walk downtown, shop, eat, cocktail, Napa Valley Wineries: Silverado Trail or Highway 29.  Here are other trips I've done:  trip 1,
  • St. Helena:  Walk downtown, shop, eat, cocktail
  • Delta
  • Sacramento: Old Sac, train museum, eat, cocktail
  • Petaluma:  Walk downtown, eat, cocktail
  • Santa Rosa
  • Bodega Bay
  • Occidental
  • Guerneville
  • Jamestown & Columbia:  One day trip (8am-7pm, 2 hr drive to Jamestown from San Ramon), walk around and window shop at the antique stores, do some wine tasting (2 locations), have a drink at the saloon and lunch.  Then head over to Columbia.  If it is October do the ghost tour, take a stage coach ride, walk around the old west town and check out things like the old pharmacy, candy shop or bowling alley and have an ice cream.  Then head down before sunset.
  • Murphys:  2.5 hours from San Ramon.  Was told there are lots of tasting rooms, food and shops.
  • Virginia City
  • Apple Hill:  Go during apple picking season, Sept/Oct?

  • Ghiradelli Square:  A free guided walking history tour of Ghirardelli Square starts each Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the concierge booth in the center of the square
